Winning awards is an amazing feeling in the
entertainment industry. I am convinced that we need a great team in order to
qualify. We cannot achieve great impact alone.
I recently witnessed Katy Perry receive her award as Billboard Woman of the Year on November 30, 2012 at Capitale in New York City. The Billboard Rising Star award went to Carly Rae Jepsen who joined Katy on the red carpet for a few photos.

When I saw the list of awards that Katy Perry received over the span of two years, I couldn't help but be wowed by the range of success. It made a lot of sense to me once I heard Katy thank her management team. I am sure I did not hear everyone's name, but there were more than 5 industry professionals on her team. An Executive VP on her marketing team confirmed in an article in Billboard magazine, "She's got an incredible work ethic, and she finally got in a position to put all the pieces together and surround herself with people that could bring all of that to the world's attention." This article reveals how important the team was, and still is, for helping Katy Perry reach her success. The management team not only believes in her, but they are committed to their role in getting Katy's vision out to the world.

Although most of the attention falls on the Billboard Woman of the Year, there are approximately 40 other women who are awarded at the Billboard Women in Music ceremony. As noted in the Music Industry Network post, "Billboard's Women in Music Power Players list recognizes female executives who drive the music business forward with their vision, dedication and hard work. Billboard invited readers worldwide to submit nominations on Billboard.biz, and female executives in every industry sector were eligible. A team of Billboard's editors then reviewed the submissions, and the top 40 nominees were chosen and ranked based on their achievements during the past 12 months."
The success of Katy Perry and the other Billboard Women in Music Power Players proves that we need a great team to stand up for us and support us each year to finish the race as a winner.
